Women in Kono District March Against Rape and Sexual Violence.

KOIDU CITY, KONO DISTRICT — In commemoration of International Women’s Day, women in Kono District organized a peaceful street march through Koidu City to raise awareness about the growing concern over rape and sexual violence in Sierra Leone.

The awareness march attracted women’s groups, youth organizations, and civil society activists who walked through major streets carrying placards with strong messages demanding an end to rape and all forms of violence against women and girls.

KOIDU CITY, KONO DISTRICT — In commemoration of International Women’s Day, women in Kono District organized a peaceful street march through Koidu City to raise awareness about the growing concern over rape and sexual violence in Sierra Leone.

The awareness march attracted women’s groups, youth organizations, and civil society activists who walked through major streets carrying placards with strong messages demanding an end to rape and all forms of violence against women and girls.

Participants expressed deep concern over the increasing number of reported rape cases across the country, particularly those involving young girls. Many demonstrators called on the government, law enforcement agencies, and community leaders to take stronger and more decisive action to protect women and children and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

Speakers during the event emphasized the importance of community involvement in addressing the issue. They urged citizens to break the culture of silence surrounding sexual violence by reporting cases promptly and supporting survivors.

The march served as both a call for justice and a platform to amplify the voices of women advocating for safer communities and stronger protection for vulnerable groups.

The event concluded with participants united under a clear and powerful message: “Enough is Enough — Stop Rape in Sierra Leone.”
